Aomori Museum of Art (Sightseeing)

The museum was established by Aomori Prefecture on July 13, 2006.
The museum regards Aomori Prefecture’s rich artistic climate and the Jomon energy symbolized by the neighboring Sannai-Maruyama Site, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, as sources of artistic creation, and shares the diverse appeal of “Art Prefecture Aomori” with the world.

Tsugaru-han Neputa Village
Goldfish Neputa Painting Workshop (Activity)

A facility where you can experience the Tsugaru region in its entirety. Here you will find full-size displays from the Hirosaki Neputa summer festival, along with staff explanations of the festival and live ohayashi musical performances held throughout the day. Live performances of tsugaru shamisen are also held.
The site includes the craft workshop Takumi, where local folk crafts are made, as well as the Japanese garden Yokien.

Hirosaki Castle (Sightseeing)

Hirosaki Castle was first planned by Tamenobu Tsugaru, the founding lord of the Hirosaki Domain, and completed in Keicho 16 (AD 1611) by the second lord, Nobuhira Tsugaru. The original castle keep, built at the time of construction, was destroyed by lightning in Kan-ei 4 (AD 1627), but was rebuilt in Bunka 8 (AD 1811) by the ninth lord, Yasuchika Tsugaru. It is counted as one of the twelve surviving castle keeps in Japan and, together with the three turrets on the second bailey and five castle gates, has been designated an Important Cultural Property.
