Spectacular views of Kita! Explore Kita from the sky and land
Kita, Osaka's main entrance, is home to JR Osaka Station, Osaka Metro, and Umeda Station, both of which are private railways, and is constantly changing. In addition to high-rise hotels, business buildings, and department stores, the area has recently seen the arrival of large retailers, theaters, and brand-name shopping buildings, adding to its glamor. Of course, the glittering neon lights of Kitashinchi, the popular drinking district, and the huge underground shopping mall are still going strong. First, take in the panoramic view of Kita from the Sky Garden, 173 meters above ground. Explore Kita from both the sky and the land.

Ohatsutenjin Shrine (Tsuyutenjinja Shrine)
Heading south from Higashidori Shopping Street to Ohatsutenjin-dori Shopping Street, you'll find Tsuyutenjin Shrine nestled in the valley between the buildings. Chikamatsu Monzaemon performed the Joruri play "Sonezaki Shinju" (Love Suicides at Sonezaki) based on the incident in which Ohatsu, a prostitute from Dojima-Shinchi Tenmaya, and Tokubei, a clerk at Hommachi Hiranoya, committed suicide here in Tenjin no Mori. Since then, this shrine has come to be called "Ohatsutenjin." Stone statues of Ohatsu and Tokubei can be seen within the shrine grounds, and couples can be seen praying for marriage, hoping to emulate Ohatsu's unwavering love.
