The arcade, which is said to have gotten its name from the sound of shamisen (three-stringed Japanese guitar) and taiko drums that were played to attract customers after the war, is flanked on both sides by a variety of popular stores, including a kushikatsu shop that refuses to allow customers to dip their meat in sauce twice, yakiniku, restaurants, sushi, udon, and izakaya (standing drinking tavern).
