Basic information

Located in a Naniwa area that once flourished as an artisans’ neighborhood in the castle town surrounding Osaka Castle, TaikoMasa has arrived at the present by treasuring a tradition of dedication to the craft of drum-making, a legacy passed down through the centuries. In the studio, the workers engage in their craft, producing drums that reverberate with the echo of the artisan’s spirit and creativity. To make taiko, logs of cut timber are dug out, cut into shape, carved, painted, and stretched with skin, all by hand. In addition to the Naniwa Traditional Cultural Experience Tour and their exhibitions on the danjiri and futon-daiko portable shrines used in Osaka’s traditional festivals, TaikoMasa also offers the Full Flavor of Taiko bundle package, allowing you to experience the Japanese Taiko Workshop Tour, Miniature Taiko Making, Japanese Taiko Performance Workshop, and a powerful live performance on these uniquely-Japanese drums. There is also a merchandise stall with purchases available exclusively to participants in the Full Flavor of Taiko plan.
