“Sakai Risho no Mori”

Sakai Risho no Mori (tea ceremony and tea ceremony experience)
The starting point for a family-friendly trip around Sakai.
Sakai Risho no Mori is a treasure trove filled with the charm of the city of Sakai.
You can learn about Sen no Rikyu, the master of tea ceremony born in Sakai, and the tea ceremony, poet Yosano Akiko and her literature, as well as the history and culture of Sakai, all while having fun.
Multilingual tablets with exhibit explanations are also available, including Japanese, English, Korean, and Chinese (simplified and traditional).
At the Taterei Tea Ceremony, you can enjoy matcha green tea and Japanese sweets prepared in the style of the Omotesenke, Urasenke, and Mushakojisenke schools from the comfort of your own seat.
You can also experience tea ceremony in an authentic tea room facing the former site of Sen no Rikyu's residence.
There is also a "Time Trip Sakai" where you can view a three-dimensional reproduction of the medieval Sakai townscape from any angle, and it is available in multiple languages.
Sen no Rikyu, who perfected the tea ceremony, and Yosano Akiko, the female poet who pioneered modern Japanese literature.
This is a tourist spot where you can learn about and experience the history and culture of Sakai while learning about the lives, personalities, and achievements of the two great superstars born in Sakai.
At the Tea Ceremony Experience Facility, facing the site of Rikyu's residence, you can enjoy a tea ceremony in a chair-style setting, enjoying matcha green tea and sweets, as well as experiencing tea ceremony in a tea room, according to the three schools of tea ceremony: Omotesenke, Urasenke, and Mushakojisenke.
You can also visit Sakai Tai-an, a restored version of the national treasure teahouse Tai-an created by Rikyu, to its original appearance.
The Yosano Akiko Memorial Museum recreates the Western-style home where Yosano Akiko was born, the third daughter of the Japanese confectionery store Surugaya.
There is a corner where you can experience the world of poetry through video and audio, as well as an exhibition where you can see all the beautiful book covers.
There is also a "Tourist Information Exhibition Room" that introduces tourist information and highlights of Sakai.
