Named temple

A temple built on the ruins of a castle
The name of the temple is engraved on the castle seal.
Senshoji Temple was built on the ruins of Ayai Castle, which once stood in Takaishi City. When Ayai Castle was hit by fire during the Sengoku period, one of the retainers escaped from the temple carrying Amida Buddha on his back. Surrounded by enemies, he threw himself into the castle moat along with Amida Buddha and died. Some time later, Priest Genyo, acting on a revelation in a dream, discovered Amida Buddha in the castle moat. He enshrined it and built a temple on the castle ruins. The castle seals sold have the name of the temple engraved on them, making them a rare find.
