Shirasagi park in Higashi ward, Sakai city is lot area about 90000 square meters. There is animal square, baseball ground, corner of amusement for children in vast inside the park. Children and elderly people use here as the place for sports and recreation. Iris garden was made in the park, because iris was elected as city's flower by civic voting for memorial of the 100th anniversary of Sakai city organization in 1989. Today, here is known widely as flower's sights. Iris which bloom about 2,000 square meters in Shukei pond in the park has about 200 kinds, and 10,000 roots of Higo group, Edo group, and Ise group from end of May to late in June every year. White, purple, red, and pink brilliant flowers bloom graceful, pleasing to the eyes of visitors.
