Suomachi Street (Suomachi Street = Europe Street)

In Osaka City, roads that run north to south are called "suji" (suji), and roads that run east to west are called "toori" (tori). Suomachi-dori is the fifth street south of Nagahori-dori, running east to west, located roughly halfway between Nagahori and Dotonbori. While America-mura, which stretches to the west across Midosuji, is a casual young people's town, the section of this street between Sakaisuji and Midosuji is commonly known as "Europe Dori" or "Europe Mura." With cobblestone streets and streetlights, it has a somewhat elegant atmosphere and is a fashionable adult town. There are European brand boutiques, galleries, cafes and restaurants, and there is a constant stream of people coming and going.
