Suoumachi-dori Street (Europa-dori Street)
Known as Europa-dori, this cobblestone street is lined with fashionable boutiques and restaurants, evoking a mature, stylish atmosphere.
In Osaka, streets running north to south are suffixed with “-suji” and those going east to west with “-tori” or “-dori.” Stretching east to west, Suoumachi-dori is the fifth street south from Nagaboridori and lies about half-way between Nagabori and Dotonbori. In contrast to the casual and youthful atmosphere of Amerikamura, which sandwiches itself around Midosuji going westward, Europa-dori (sometimes called Europa-mura) occupies the space between Midosuji and Sakaisuji. The street is lined with cobblestones and streetlamps, creating a stylish and mature avenue with an atmosphere of ambient elegance. It bustles with people as they go to and fro in front of European-brand boutiques, galleries, cafes, and restaurants.
