[Kumano Sanzan①]Kumano Hayatama Taisha Grand Shrine
One of Kumano Sanzan shrines -- the Kumano Hayatama Taisha Grand Shrine -- is revered as the main shrine of all Kumano shrines nationwide, along with the Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine and the Kumano Nachi Taisha Grand Shrine. Density of branch shrines in the Sanzan area is the highest nationwide.
All the way from Hokkaido through Okinawa, the Sanzan area boasts with the highest number of national treasures and UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Kamikura-jinja Shrine
Kamikura-jinja Shrine, located about 5 minutes by car from Kumano Hayatama Taisha Grand Shrine, is said to have been the holy site where Kumano-no-O-kami deity first descended upon. Standing on top of the Amanoiwatate Cliff, 538 steep stairs need to be climbed to reach it. There, the sacred object, the Gotobiki-iwa Rock, is found together with the number-one view in Shingu City.
