Karatsu Castle

Karatsu Castle: The Landmark of Karatsu City
Its construction began in 1602 and took seven years to complete.The castle keep you can see today was built in 1966. It is also known as Maizuru Castle (Dancing Crane Castle), and is renowned for its cherry blossoms and Japanese wisterias.

Former Takatori Residence

This is the mansion of Takatori Koreyoshi, known as the operator of the Kishima coal mine.
Its importance was confirmed in a national comprehensive survey of modern Japanese architecture, and it was designated an Important Cultural Property in December 1998.
