Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine

Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine is a historic shrine mentioned in the Kojiki (Records of Ancient Matters) and is dedicated to Okuninushi no Okami, revered as the deity of matchmaking. The main hall, built in 1744, is designated as a National Treasure and exudes a solemn atmosphere, with the majestic Mount Izumo in its background.

Inasa-no-Hama Beach

The coastline west of Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine is known for its connection to the myths of Kuni-yuzuri (the transfer of the land) and Kuni-biki (the pulling of the land). It features landmarks such as Bentenjima Island and Byobuiwa rock. The view of the setting sun is so breathtaking that it has been recognized as a Japan Heritage site.

Shinmon-dori Street and Goen Yokocho (Strolling and Shopping)

Near Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine, Goen Yokocho offers a delightful array of souvenir shops featuring local produce and specialties, including Izumo-style zenzai (sweet red bean soup) and Izumo soba noodles. Aside from shopping, the area provides facilities such as nursing rooms or baby lounge, making it a comfortable spot for a leisurely stroll.  Additionally, Shinmon Street, the main approach to Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine, is a lively and bustling street lined with various shops, the perfect place to create great memories of your trip to Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine.
