Walking around Kakunodate
Kakunodate, known as the "Little Kyoto of Michinoku," retains its Edo-period street layout and is lined with samurai residences and merchant storehouses. You can immerse yourself in a romantic atmosphere by visiting the retro buildings, such as the "Uchimachi" area where samurai lived and the "Sotomachi" area where townspeople lived.
We also recommend taking a rickshaw ride through the samurai residence area and enjoying a stroll while learning about history.

Kakunodate Sanso Wabizakura
Once you leave the rural landscape, you will find this 200-year-old thatched-roof traditional inn nestled in the woods. With only 10 luxurious rooms spread across a vast 130,000m² site, you can have the tranquil scenery and tranquility all to yourself.
Another attractive feature is that all rooms are equipped with a semi-open-air bath with natural hot spring water. The alkaline simple hot spring water with a pH of 9.6 is also effective for beautiful skin!
