Kurohimeyama Tomb

Beautifully restored ancient ruins.
Kurohimeyama Kofun is a keyhole-shaped tumulus measuring 114 meters in length, 64 meters wide at the front, and 11 meters high. It is believed to have been constructed in the middle of the Kofun period, and was also used as a fortress in the Middle Ages. The moat around the tumulus is decorated with a circumferential belt (a device used to make the tumulus look beautiful), which shows the Japanese attention to beauty at the time. The information center displays armor and haniwa clay figures unearthed during excavations at Kurohimeyama Kofun.
