Minamihorie and Kitahorie areas

A city where clothing, food, and housing are all fashionable.
The Horie area is gaining attention as a fashionable town. It used to be a town lined with lumber stores. The Horie River flows between what is now Kita-Horie and Minami-Horie, and boats carrying lumber used to pass through. However, the area was burnt to the ground in the massive air raids of 1945 (Showa 20). After that, people who had evacuated returned and created Tachibana Street, known as the furniture town. In recent years, new stores have begun to appear one after another in Horie. Clothing stores, general stores, cafes. Lined with fashionable stores that were ahead of their time, the area has become a popular destination.
