Suisho Bridge

It was originally built as a movable weir over the Dojima River, but is now a pedestrian-only bridge with plantings and benches.

Crystal Bridge was built in 1929 as a movable weir on the Dojima River for the purpose of purifying the river. Over 50 years later, in 1982, the bridge began to show signs of wear and tear, leading to renovations and restoration to a state worthy of its name, "Crystal Bridge." The combination of the main arch and the nine smaller arches above it creates a sense of lightness amidst its solidity, and the bridge is equipped with plants and benches, creating a relaxing space. Along the river, Osaka's most representative modern buildings, such as Osaka City Central Public Hall and the Prefectural Nakanoshima Library, line the river, making it a wonderful place for a stroll. There are various theories about the origin of the bridge's name, including that the reflection of the bridge's lights on the water resembles the sparkle of crystal, or that it was given in hopes of the prosperity of Osaka, the city of water. During the day, many people can be seen painting the bridge, and at night, it is beautifully lit up.
